Atari VCS Suffers more delays

After the first delay in summer Atari have yet again delayed the VCS. Its looking to launch at Christmas so could be in your stocking or even delayed future into 2020 if development continues this way.

The reason for the delay is an apparent hardware upgrade. Atari say “AMD’s all-new Ryzen embedded chip will be faster, cooler, and more efficient, allowing the VCS to benefit from a simpler and more effective power architecture and thermal solution.”

“While additional specifications about the new AMD processor will be announced closer to launch, be assured that the new AMD Ryzen processor is a much better fit for this project in multiple ways and will further enable the Atari VCS to deliver on its promise to be a unique and highly flexible platform for creators,”

All of this Upgrading means it will be able to do native 4k.

This is all very interesting, but we have to remember that nobody’s actually looked inside the box. Atari have announced 100 classic titles will be available on launch, will they be emulators? or Native ports? Still a lot of questions remain.
